VIHA - Occupational First Aid Level 2

Description
This WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Level 2 course is a 35-hour program designed for the urban attendant, meaning typically those attendants who work within twenty minutes surface travel time of a hospital. Initial certification requires full participation and course attendance, as well as satisfactory results in both a written and practical exams with a 70% pass mark.
The course curriculum includes:
- Basic Life Support (Adult CPR) and AED use
- Priority Action Approach and Workplace Emergency Response Procedures (WERP)
- Scene assessment
- Patient assessment
- Critical airway & breathing and circulatory interventions with C-spine management; including insertion of oral airways
- Major bleeding control
- WorkSafe BC records and reports
- Small wound, soft tissue, and fracture management
All courses are taught by certified WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Instructors who bring years of hands-on first aid and teaching experience.
Upon successful completion students will be issued a WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid certificate with a three (3) year expiry.
Prerequisites
Must be a VIHA employee who is required to complete this training by their employer.
